Amanda Smith
Amanda Smith is Creative Director at BUCK Netherlands, an accomplished paper artist and activist. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, she has spent over 15 years crafting paper sculptures and animations, blending art with commercial storytelling.
Her powerful campaign against female genital mutilation (FGM) garnered global media attention and was supported by the UN’s HeForShe initiative. The project stemmed from personal research and became a public art statement.
Amanda has presented at TEDx Amsterdam twice, and has spoken at major creative events like Playgrounds in Motion, Dutch Digital Day, Klik Animation, BNO Utrecht, and Creative Mornings Amsterdam.
Her paper-based artwork has been exhibited at renowned venues including the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Coda Apeldoorn, Stadtmuseum Aarau, and Dutch Design Week 2017.
She earned awards for the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Experience project at AWWWARDS/SOTD and FWA/FOTD, and was shortlisted as ELLE Magazine’s Woman Activist of the Year 2017.
At Cannes Lions 2014, Amanda received a Silver Lion for Outdoor, plus three Bronze Lions (Direct, Media, and Promotion & Activation), along with recognition from Epica, Eurobest, and Cristal Awards.
